| The Gottfried Wagener Prize honors young scientists in Japan for path-breaking and application-oriented research work in the areas of Materials, Transportation Systems and Vehicles, Energy and Industry, and Life Sciences and Healthcare. In each of these four research areas a prize of 2,500,000 Yen is awarded. The German Innovation Award was established by technology-focused German companies to encourage collaboration between German and Japanese industry and academia and to provide support for young researchers in Japan.
